About Jeff Miller

With more than 25 years of experience as a successful businessman and business owner, and 8 years serving as both the Mayor and a Councilman of Corona, Jeff Miller was elected to the State Assembly in 2008, and re-elected in 2010 to represent the 71st Assembly District. The district spans the edge of Eastern Orange County and takes in the majority of Western Riverside County

Assemblyman Miller’s service to his community began in 1995 when he was appointed as a Parks Commissioner in Corona. By 2000, he ascended to the City Council, where he kept his goals simple: keep the economy growing, the budget balanced, the community safe, and get the roads moving.

As a member of the Riverside County Transportation Commission, Jeff became one of the region’s leading experts on transportation issues, and has also served on the Western Riverside Council of Governments since 2001, serving as Chairman from 2005-2007. Jeff’s dedication to regional transportation issues motivated him to lead a number of Orange County/Riverside County partnerships including the Riverside/Orange Corridor Authority.

Believing that public safety is the first priority of government, Jeff became the first statewide Co-Chair of the Jessica’s Law campaign in 2005, helping protect children from sexual predators by ushering in the most sweeping overhaul of the state’s penal code in a generation.

Jeff Miller served as Chairman of the Riverside County Republican Party from 2006 – 2008, overseeing one of the most successful election cycles for the Party in recent years.

Currently as Assemblyman, Jeff serves on the Assembly Higher Education Committee as well as the Insurance, Housing and Community Development and Transportation Committees. In addition, he serves as Vice-Chair of the Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee. In his previous term, Jeff sat on the Appropriations, Transportation, Education and Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee while also serving as the caucus’ Elections Chair.

In the Assembly, Jeff recently passed AB 2098, legislation to expand the 91 freeway and create 18,000 jobs in an area hit hardest by the recession. Garnering an impressive 54 co-authors in both the Assembly and Senate, Jeff’s bill was signed into law in September of 2010 by Governor Schwarzenegger.

AB 2098 earned him the title of the “2010 Legislator of the Year” from the Southern California Contractor’s Association, “2011 Elected Official of the Year” from the California Transportation Foundation, recipient of the “2011 Commerce Award” by the Orange Chamber of Commerce, and recognition from the Orange County Business Council. This monumental legislation will help to expedite the project and bring desperately needed traffic relief to Southern California.

Jeff represents California’s 71st Assembly District which takes in portions of Orange County and Riverside County. It encompasses the cities of Anaheim, Corona, Eastvale, Irvine, Mission Viejo, Norco, Orange, Rancho Santa Margarita, Santa Ana, and Tustin.

Assemblyman Miller graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 1985. He has been married for 23 years to his wife Debora; they have two daughters.
