FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, December 12, 2011
(CORONA, CA) – 31st Senate district candidate Jeff Miller (R-Corona) announced the endorsement of the Riverside County Sheriffs’ Association today, the same day the Press-Enterprise reported that Sacramento Democrats are still searching for a candidate in the race.
In their letter to Assemblyman Miller endorsing his candidacy, Pat McNamara, President of the Riverside Sheriffs’ Association, said the decision to endorse Miller was “an easy one.” He cited Miller’s “unyielding commitment to public safety and law enforcement concerns” along with his “devotion to the welfare of law enforcement professionals, including surviving family members.”
“We have been working hard and I am very honored to have the support of the sheriff deputies who risk their lives on a daily basis to keep us all safe,” said Miller.
Today, the Press-Enterprise reported that Sacramento Democrats are still searching for a candidate they can support in the 31st district and noted that the only announced Democrat party candidate, ex-Assemblyman Steve Clute, has failed to garner any significant support.
“Jeff Miller brings vast experience as a small business owner and local elected official,” said Miller’s consultant Dave Gilliard. “He has the respect of community leaders because they know how hard he works for the district, while staying true to his fiscally conservative principles.”
The new 31st Senate District is entirely in the County of Riverside, and includes the cities of Corona, Norco, Riverside, Moreno Valley, Jurupa Valley, Eastvale and Perris.
Jeff Miller is the former Mayor of Corona and a long-time business owner in Riverside County.
